lyrics

I went across the ocean with a pack of rhymes, I can't say what I was
looking for
Maybe it was something to say, maybe it was something to do, maybe it
was just the wind
But now I'm here, on this distant shore, and the answer is staring me in
the face, it is, don't expect to find peace.

My question started in Serbia as my friends they gathered around
They told me of the bombs, they told me of their blood, they told me of
suffering.
I didn't know what to say.. "Uh.. I have a cousin in Kosovo"
No don't go down there, little girl, they all hate us! and.. don't expect to
find peace

Well I went on a circle around the world, I got all the way to asia.
I didn't think about my question no more, I just thought about bringing
joy.
But then I had to turn around, as the summer came to its firey close
And I was faced with the question once more it was, where is the peace?

I didn't listen to my friends, I came all the way down to Kosovo.
They told me of the bombs, they told me of their blood, they told me of
suffering.
I didn't know what to say, "I've got serbian friends, they aren't all bad!"
No don't say that, little girl, we don't want to hear those stories! and..
don't expect to find peace.

it is written in a missionary guidebook to the balkans, a survival guide
"in regards to the balkan conflict of the 90s, it is not appreciated to
attempt to understand both sides"
But we come here as missionaries of western hippie ideals and ask you
to stand in a circle holding hands singing for peace
Even though I have not seen a shred of war, I have not seen anyone die, I
have hardly seen any blood in my life.

So you must wait, little girl, wait for these breezes to blow.
You got no business telling them what to do and don't you know?
They don't expect to find peace.

Sometimes it's enough just to live, and well sort of let live
Some people they choose to forgive, choose to love in spite of all odds.
Some of my friends they already have, they are looking for a new cause
they aren't carrying around all that hatred like before but they still tell
me, we don't expect to find peace.

And now I'm stuck here in the middle, trying to understand both sides
"it's not appreciated"
But all I know how to do is love my friends and hope that I won't be
chastised.
And so you must wait little girl, wait for these breezes to blow
and don't you know that without you even they may find,
they may find peace.
